Full Name: Connect the Parks
Creator: Anne Jones and Guillaume Lemoine with support from the Community residents’ Association for Parks, North East Trees, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Silver Lake Residents Association
Study Type: Collaborative project between non-profit organizations and students
Status of Project: Completed in 2002

Context:
The communities within the study area—Echo Park, Elysian Valley, and Silver Lake—are divided by freeways and secondary highways. These divisions keep the communities disconnected from each other, open space and recreational opportunities.

Goals:
Create a study plan for landscaped parkways connecting parks, schools, recreational facilities and neighborhoods adjacent to the Los Angeles River in the communities of Echo Park, Elysian Valley, and Silver Lake in the northeastern part of Los Angeles.

Proposal Summary:
Connect the parks proposes specific pedestrian linkages to the Los Angeles River, the Corralitas Red Car parcel, and important neighborhood destinations including schools and parks.
