The way we get around is important in Los Angeles. Ask anyone about their neighborhood and undoubtedly one aspect of their like or dislike of it will have to do with how easily they can get around to the places they need to go. The Project Making the Connections is an urban planning and design project that will result in a plan with proposed bicycle and pedestrian connections to the Chinatown and Lincoln/Cypress Gold Line Stations. The goal is to connect the residents and workers that surround the stations to the Gold Line. The plan will create safe and enjoyable routes to walk and bike to the Gold Line; create more opportunities to exercise; and make our streets more enjoyable places for people. The Partners Making the Connections is funded by a Caltrans Community-Based Transportation Planning Grant that has been awarded to Livable Places. Livable Places is a non-profit organization that advances affordable vibrant healthy Southern California communities through advocacy, innovation, and building. Developing The Plan Rather than coming up with its own ideas, Livable Places wants to use the ideas of residents and workers in the area. We are hearing your ideas in several ways. We have a Project Advisory Committee that is made up of residents, workers, advocates, and city agencies. We have a survey you can fill out. We also have several events you can attend. Our walkabouts and bikeabout will teach you the basics of bicycle and pedestrian planning and allow you to walk and bike throughout the study areas to make observations.
